What you'll need to apply
Credit applications update - Semester 1 2026
Applications submitted from April 1 onwards are passed the Census date (March 31) and will not be processed for Semester 1.聽聽
If your application is submitted by 11.59pm March 31听补苍诲 credit is granted for a unit you are currently enrolled in, we will remove the unit on your behalf after Census date without academic or financial penalty. Please note that 'processing' your application does not guarantee it will be approved.
You'll need to provide the required information and in most cases attach supporting documents. If you don鈥檛 have everything you need, contact the institution where you studied before applying.
We can't consider your application without the necessary information or documents.
Required information
In your application you'll need to tell us:
- your intended program, majors, and minors (if required for your course)
- the institution where you completed the study
- the course you completed the units under
- the completed unit of study name and code
- the year of completion
- the language of instruction.
Equivalent University of Sydney unit of study code
In your application we recommend including what you believe is the equivalent University of Sydney unit of study code.聽You can use the information in your handbook听补苍诲 unit outline聽to assist with this.
For the following faculties and schools, it's a mandatory requirement that you include the equivalent聽University of Sydney unit code before we can consider your application:
- Sydney School of Health Sciences
- Sydney Pharmacy School (Sydney School of Health Sciences)
- Sydney Conservatorium of Music
- Sydney College of the Arts (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences)
- Sydney School of Education and Social Work (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences)
English translations
If your documents are not in English, they need to be officially translated into English by your institution and include the institution's official stamp on each page. Alternatively, you can have your document translated and certified by the聽.
For each unit of study in your application attach:
- a detailed unit of study outline聽for the session and year you completed it
- a certified copy of your official academic transcript.

This needs to be issued by the institution for the session and year you completed it. We won't accept outlines you created using a template or purchased online.
Outlines need to include:
- unit of study code and name
- academic level, for example first year
- credit point value
- learning content, including weekly schedule of topics covered
- method of teaching and assessment
- number of teaching hours
- reading list
- prescribed and recommended texts and reference books
- for Law units, the number of face-to-face teaching hours and the required word count for each assessment item
- information on how many units of study in total were required to complete the degree you were undertaking
- in some cases, you may also be asked to provide a portfolio of work.
This needs to be certified and include:
- the units of study you completed
- the grades you received
- an explanation of the grading system used at the institution.
Alternatively, you can provide a pdf copy of your transcript downloaded from My eQuals.
We won鈥檛 accept a results notice or online printout of your results instead of an official transcript.
If you can鈥檛 obtain a copy of your transcript but have a shared link from your institution, you will still be able to complete your application. You should upload a word document that explains how we can use the shared link to access your transcript file. We will contact you if needed..
If your institution will only send transcript copies directly to another institution, ask your institution to send a copy of your official transcript to sc.credit@sydney.edu.au. In the application, you will need to upload a copy of your correspondence with your institution as your transcript file.
For each unit of study in your application attach:
- your academic approval letter
- a certified copy of your official academic transcript.

- a certified copy of your official academic transcript (upload this under 'Supporting documents', and select 'Transcript' as the document type).

- outline your professional experience
- briefly describe the tasks and responsibilities associated with your role (such as a duty statement)
- demonstrate how your experience relates to the RVL you've applied for
- include the period you were employed
- be dated and on company letterhead.
