Mandatory Documents received by聽5:00 pm 26 May 2026
The University will complete administrative review by 29 May. Applicants must confirm amendments have been made, and that they have certified and submitted their application in Sapphire by 9:00 am 1 June.
If the applicant鈥檚 confirmation is not received by 9:00 am 1 June, while every effort will be made to proceed, the University cannot guarantee that the application will be submitted.听
Mandatory Documents received after聽5:00 pm 26 May 2026
Every effort will be made to provide an administrative review. However, administrative review is not guaranteed, which may result in the application not being submitted.
Regardless of whether an administrative review is provided to the applicant, the deadline for confirming that amendment has been made, and certifying and submitting the application in Sapphire remains as 9:00 am 1 June.
If the applicant鈥檚 confirmation is not received by 9:00 am 1 June, while every effort will be made to proceed, the University cannot guarantee that the application will be submitted.听
New Applications
Any new application and mandatory documents submitted after聽5:00 pm 28 May 2026 will not be endorsed by the University of Sydney.

Who's eligible
Please refer to the .
You must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia at the time of acceptance and for the duration of the scholarship
- be undertaking a PhD or a master's by research degree
- not exceed 12 calendar months of full-time equivalent enrolment for a PhD degree, or six calendar months for a master's by research degree, up to 31 December in the year of application
- include a proposal for a research project based in Australia
- apply under the research stream that your research proposal aligns with
- not have previously received funding for a NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship
- not be a recipient of, or have accepted an Australian Government funded Research Training Program (RTP) stipend for the degree applied for, prior to or at the time of application, during peer review, at any time prior to the commencement of the grant, or for the duration of the grant
- not hold a full-time academic position, or other full-time positions, in conjunction with the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship.
Background
The NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships scheme funds successful applicants to attain a research based postgraduate degree. It aims to support these outstanding graduates early in their career, so they can be trained to conduct health and medical research that is internationally competitive and develop a capacity for original independent research within Australia.
