1.听听听听听 Background

听a.听听听听听 This Scholarship was established in 2025 with the aim of assisting students who are experiencing financial hardship within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.

听b.听听听听听 This Scholarship has been funded by the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.

听2.听听听听听 Eligibility

听a.听听听听听 Applicants must be currently enrolled as a continuing DFEE (Domestic Full Fee Paying) or IFEE (International Full Fee Paying) full-time student in any coursework degree within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.

听b.听听听听听 Applicants must be experiencing financial hardship.

听c.听听听听听 Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 24 credit points in the current semester of their degree.

d.听听听听听 Applicants must be making good academic progress in their current course. Students whose progression status is listed as Academic Caution or Show Good Cause are not eligible to apply.

听e.听听听听听 Applicants who are required to repeat a unit of study will not be eligible.

听3.听听听听听 Selection Criteria

听a.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

听听 听 听 听I.听听听听听听听听听 academic progress (where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the allocated funding, applicants will be ranked based on academic performance by the program directors of those courses), and

听听 听 听 II.听听听听听听听听听 Domestic students who demonstrate financial hardship, and receive a Centrelink (or other Commonwealth) means-tested income support payment such as:

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听i.听听听听听听听听听 ABSTUDY

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 ii.听听听听听听听听听 Austudy

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听iii.听听听听听听听听听 Youth Allowance

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听iv.听听听听听听听听听 Disability Support Pension

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 v.听听听听听听听听听 Parenting Payment (Single)

听听 听 III.听听听听听听听听听 International students who demonstrate financial hardship, and hold one of the following Australian refugee and humanitarian visas:

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 i.听听听听听听听听听 Global Special Humanitarian (subclass 202)

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 ii.听听听听听听听听听 Humanitarian Stay visa (subclass 449)

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听iii.听听听听听听听听听 Protection visa (subclass 866)

听听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听iv.听听听听听听听听听 Refugee visas (subclass 200, 201, 203 and 204)

听b.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be awarded by the Associate Dean Education of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, or their nominated delegate(s).

听4.听听听听听 听Value

听a. The Scholarship will cover the tuition fees and Student Services and Amenities Fees for one full time semester of the relevant degree.

听b. Deferral and suspension of the scholarship is not permitted.

听c. The scholarship cannot be transferred to another University school, faculty or university.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

听e. No other amount is payable.

听5.听听听听听 Ongoing eligibility

听a.听听听听听 None

听6.听听听听听 Termination

听a.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

听I.听听听听听听 withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol, does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

听II.听听听听听 is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

听III.听听听 accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $8,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship, or

听IV.听听听 does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

听b.听听听听听 Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

听c.听听听听听 Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
