This scholarship is valued at $7500 and is tenable for three years, plus an additional year for completion of the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (where applicable), or where the Bachelor of Commerce is combined with the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a domestic student
  • have successfully applied through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) to commence an undergraduate degree in the University of Sydney Business School
  • have achieved an ATAR (or equivalent) of at least 97 in the NSW HSC or equivalent.

a.聽聽聽聽聽 This Scholarship was established in 2021 to support students who demonstrate leadership and make a difference to the communities around them.

2.聽聽聽聽聽 Eligibility

a.聽 聽 聽 聽Applicants must be Domestic students.

b.聽 聽 聽 聽Applicants must have successfully applied through UAC to commence an undergraduate degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School.

c.聽 聽 聽 聽Applicants must have achieved an ATAR (or equivalent) of at least 97 in the NSW HSC or equivalent.

3.聽聽聽聽聽 Selection Criteria

a.聽聽聽聽聽 The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 I.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 academic merit,

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 II.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 answers provided in the common undergraduate application form, including demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement and an interest in Business.

b.聽 聽 聽 聽At least one scholarship will be reserved for a student who completed their Year 12 studies at an Australian Government High School.

c.聽聽聽聽聽 The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates.

4.聽聽聽聽聽 Value

a.聽聽聽聽聽 The Scholarship is valued at $7,500 per annum and is tenable for the standard full-time degree duration. The total value of the scholarship is capped at:

I.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 $22,500 for the Bachelor of Commerce,

II.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 $30,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, or where the Bachelor of Commerce is combined with the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.

b.聽聽聽聽聽 The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c.聽聽聽聽聽 Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d.聽 聽 聽 Suspension of the scholarship is permitted for up to two semesters provided the recipient is permitted to, or obtains approval to, suspend their degree.

e.聽 聽 聽 聽Requests for suspension of the scholarship for more than two semesters will be considered, and if appropriate approved, on a case-by-case basis by the University of Sydney Business School.

f.聽聽聽聽聽聽 Transfer of the Scholarship to another degree program is not permitted without the permission of the Dean responsible for the initial program, or their nominated delegate, and does not involve lengthening the tenure of this Scholarship.

g.聽聽聽聽聽 The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

h.聽聽聽聽聽 No other amount is payable.

5.聽聽聽聽聽 Ongoing eligibility

a.聽聽聽聽聽 To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must enrol in 22 credit points each semester and maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 75. Undertaking a minimum full-time load will not extend the duration of the scholarship.

b.聽聽聽聽聽 If extenuating circumstances arise, the recipient may submit a request to decrease their study load to a minimum full-time load per semester (18 credit points), but only with the permission of the聽Faculty. The duration of the Scholarship will not be extended if a recipient undertakes a minimum full-time load.

c.聽聽聽聽聽 Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

d.聽聽聽聽聽 Recipients are required to submit a 200-word statement to the Business School (business.scholarships@sydney.edu.au) before 15 December in each year of holding the scholarship, summarising their involvement and impact in leadership and community spaces.

6.聽聽聽聽聽 Termination

a.聽聽聽聽聽 The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽I.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 II.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 enrols in fewer than 22 credit points in a semester without prior approval by the Business School,

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 III.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 IV.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 V.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 accepts an alternative multi-year scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $6,000 per annum or more, or

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 VI.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b.聽聽聽聽聽 Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.聽

c.聽聽聽聽聽 Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7.聽聽聽聽聽 Other Requirements

a.聽聽聽聽聽 Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing events and corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a Business School Student Ambassador.
