  • be commencing a bachelor's degree or a coursework master's degree that is a CRICOS registered award program delivered by the University of Sydney Business School ("Eligible Course") (excluding MBA, MBA Leadership and Enterprise, MBA Technology and Digital Strategy and Executive MBA).
  • not have previously held the same scholarship.

Background

Business School International Scholarships are awarded to international students of high academic merit completing degrees at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is open to commencing postgraduate international students who have received an offer of admission for a full-time coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School.

1. Background

a. Business School International Scholarships are awarded to international students ofÌýhigh merit enrolling into degrees at the University of Sydney Business School. TheÌýscholarship is open to commencing postgraduate international students who haveÌýreceived an unconditional offer of admission for a coursework full-time degree at theÌýUniversity of Sydney Business School and have been invited to submit an application.

2. Eligibility

a. To be eligible for the Scholarship, recipients must be an international student as definedÌýin the Higher Education Support Act 2003 at the time of consideration.

b. Commencing a bachelor's degree or a coursework master's degree that is a CRICOSÌýregistered award program delivered by the University of Sydney Business SchoolÌý("Eligible Course") (excluding MBA, MBA Leadership and Enterprise, MBA TechnologyÌýand Digital Strategy and Executive MBA).

c. Recipients commencing a second degree at the University of Sydney are eligibleÌýprovided they have not previously held the same scholarship.

d. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with other Scholarships and Awards offeredÌýby the University of Sydney or by an external provider.

e. High merit candidates will be invited to apply for the scholarship on the basis of theirÌýprevious academic performance.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded to commencing students based on:

l. Academic merit

ll. A recorded personal statement articulating their motivation forÌýstudy and ambitions to create positive future impact.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consistingÌýof two members of Business School staff.

4. Value

a. Two scholarship amounts are offered based on ranking against selection criteria:

I. $10,000 payable for one semester to commencing students of exceptional merit

ll.Ìý$5,000 payable for one semester to commencing students of very high merit.

The overall number of scholarships will be determined by the Business School and subjectÌýto availability of funds.

b. Recipients must return a signed copy of the acceptance of their conditional scholarshipÌýoffer by the nominated deadline stated in the scholarship offer notification.

c. Recipients must enrol in the Eligible Course as per clause 2b of this document andÌýremain enrolled after census date to receive payment.

d. The payment will be made as a credit to the recipient's Student Fee Account after theÌýcensus date of each semester. The credit can be used to offset tuition fee in the followingÌýsemester. The credit cannot be converted to cash payment unless the recipient isÌýexternally sponsored.

e. Deferral or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted unless prior approval is givenÌýby the Business School.

f. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds subject to theÌýmaximum amount of funds available. Once the maximum amount has been met theÌýUniversity reserves the right to rescind and withdraw all unaccepted offers immediately.

g. No other amount is payable.

5. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

ll.Ìýbecomes a domestic student by the relevant census date,

Ill. commences part-time study, defers, or suspends without prior approval,

IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, butÌýnot limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of theirÌýScholarship application, or

V. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminatedÌýunder any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, theÌýUniversity reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to theÌýScholarship recipient be reimbursed.

6. Other Requirements

a. Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they areÌýenrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing eventsÌýÌýand corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a BusinessÌýSchool Student Ambassador.
