This scholarship is valued at $6,000 p.a. and is tenable for:

  • up to 3 years, for students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce
  • up to 4 years, for students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, orÌýor where the Bachelor of Commerce is combined with the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a domestic student
  • be enrolling in either the Bachelor of Commerce, or Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, or Bachelor of Commerce combined with the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, as administered by the University of Sydney Business School
  • have successfully applied through UAC to commence an undergraduate degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School.
  • haved attended a school or have a residential address that is classified under the Australian Statistical Geography Standards (ASGS) as inner regional, outer regional, remote or very remote prior to commencing enrolment in an eligible degree.Ìý

Background

In memory of a late brother (and Honours graduate from the University of Sydney), the Eric Campbell Scott Scholarship supports students studying in the Business School.

1.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Background

a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý This Scholarship was established to support students from rural / regional areas of Australia commencing studies in an undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School.

2.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Eligibility

a.Ìý Ìý Ìý Applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian permanent residentsÌýÌý

b.Ìý Ìý Ìý Applicants must have successfully applied through UAC to commence an undergraduate degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School.

c.Ìý Ìý Ìý Applicants must attend a school or have a residential address that is classified under the as inner regional, outer regional, remote or very remote prior to commencing enrolment in their eligible degree.Ìý

3.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Selection Criteria

a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of answers provided in the common undergraduate application form, including demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement and an interest in Business.

b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates.

4.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Value

a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship is valued at $6,000 per annum and is tenable for the standard full-time degree duration. The total value of the scholarship is capped at:

I.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý $18,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce,

II.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý $24,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, or where the Bachelor of Commerce is combined with the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.

b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Suspension of the scholarship is permitted for up to two semesters provided the recipient is permitted to, or obtains approval to, suspend their degree.

e.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Requests for suspension of the scholarship for more than two semesters will be considered, and if appropriate approved, on a case-by-case basis by the University of Sydney Business School.

f.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Transfer of the Scholarship to another degree program is not permitted without the permission of the Dean responsible for the initial program, or their nominated delegate, and does not involve lengthening the tenure of this Scholarship.

g.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý If extenuating circumstances arise, the recipient may submit a request to decrease their study load to a minimum full-time load per semester (18 credit points), but only with the permission of theÌýFaculty. The duration of the Scholarship will not be extended if a recipient undertakes a minimum full-time load.

h.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

i.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý No other amount is payable.

5.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Ongoing eligibility

a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must enrol in at least 22 credit points each semester and maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester. Undertaking a minimum full-time load will not extend the duration of the Scholarship.

b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Termination

a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý enrols in fewer than 22 credit points in a semester without approval by the Business School,

III.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

IV.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

V.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý accepts an alternative multi-year scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $6,000 per annum or more, or

VI.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.ÌýÌý

c.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Other Requirements

a.ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing events and corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a Business School Student Ambassador.
