1.听听听听听 Background

a.听听听听听 This Scholarship was established to support students from rural / regional areas of Australia commencing studies in an undergraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney Business School.

2.听听听听听 Eligibility

a.听 听 听 Applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents听听

b.听 听 听 Applicants must have successfully applied through UAC to commence an undergraduate degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School.

c.听 听 听 Applicants must attend a school or have a residential address that is classified under the as inner regional, outer regional, remote or very remote prior to commencing enrolment in their eligible degree.听

3.听听听听听 Selection Criteria

a.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of answers provided in the common undergraduate application form, including demonstrated leadership skills, community involvement and an interest in Business.

b.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates.

4.听听听听听 Value

a.听听听听听 The Scholarship is valued at $6,000 per annum and is tenable for the standard full-time degree duration. The total value of the scholarship is capped at:

I.听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 $18,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce,

II.听听听听听听听听听听听听听听听 $24,000 for the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies, or where the Bachelor of Commerce is combined with the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.

b.听听听听听 The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c.听听听听听 Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d.听听听听听 Suspension of the scholarship is permitted for up to two semesters provided the recipient is permitted to, or obtains approval to, suspend their degree.

e.听听听听听 Requests for suspension of the scholarship for more than two semesters will be considered, and if appropriate approved, on a case-by-case basis by the University of Sydney Business School.

f.听听听听听听 Transfer of the Scholarship to another degree program is not permitted without the permission of the Dean responsible for the initial program, or their nominated delegate, and does not involve lengthening the tenure of this Scholarship.

g.听听听听听 If extenuating circumstances arise, the recipient may submit a request to decrease their study load to a minimum full-time load per semester (18 credit points), but only with the permission of the听Faculty. The duration of the Scholarship will not be extended if a recipient undertakes a minimum full-time load.

h.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

i.听听听听听听 No other amount is payable.

5.听听听听听 Ongoing eligibility

a.听听听听听 To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must enrol in at least 22 credit points each semester and maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester. Undertaking a minimum full-time load will not extend the duration of the Scholarship.

b.听听听听听 Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6.听听听听听 Termination

a.听听听听听 The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I.听听听听听听听听听 withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II.听听听听听听听听听 enrols in fewer than 22 credit points in a semester without approval by the Business School,

III.听听听听听听听听听 does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

IV.听听听听听听听听听 is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

V.听听听听听听听听听 accepts an alternative multi-year scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $6,000 per annum or more, or

VI.听听听听听听听听听 does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b.听听听听听 Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.听听

c.听听听听听 Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7.听听听听听 Other Requirements

a.听听听听听 Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing events and corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a Business School Student Ambassador.
