When:聽Tuesday 9 April 2019

Indonesia: it鈥檚 the most populous country in Southeast Asia and on 17 April it's heading to the polls. This historic election is the first time that the presidential and general election have been held on the same day in Indonesia.聽

Join our expert panel the week before the election to learn more about the key issues at stake for Indonesia and our region. How has food sovereignty and resource nationalism played out during the campaign? Where do cultural activism and sexual politics fit in? And what considerations have candidates given to disability and social inclusion?

Chaired by Professor of Indonesian Law, Simon Butt and featuring distinguished panellists from across each of SSEAC鈥檚 five research clusters, this event is the ideal primer for anyone with an interest in the future of Indonesia.

The panel session was followed by an extended Q&A session with the audience.

This panel was co-hosted by SSEAC, the Sydney Centre for Asian and Pacific Law,聽the Department of Indonesian Studies and AIYA NSW.
