A conference for postgraduate students and early career researchers
The Southeast Asia Emerging Scholars Conference provides a forum to bring together expertise on Southeast Asia from postgraduates and early career researchers at the University of Sydney and beyond.

This conference is an opportunity for postgraduates and early career researchers working on Southeast Asia-related topics to present their research in preparation for upcoming conferences. It鈥檚 also a chance for academics, practitioners and the wider community to engage with the next generation of Southeast Asia research excellence.
The conference is multidisciplinary, with sessions organised across SSEAC鈥檚 five areas of research strength to go beyond disciplinary boundaries.

Note: Participants from the University of Sydney are required to attend the 聽(excludes participants of the 2018 Public Speaking Workshop).
Further information
To participate in this program, applicants must:
- be a postgraduate student or early career researcher at the University of Sydney聽(less than five years out from PhD)
- be a SSEAC member (free to join)
- be conducting research on any of the countries within Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam), or Southeast Asia as a region, and
- be available* to participate in the 聽(*University of Sydney students and scholars only)
