Who:ÌýEarly Career Researchers with interests in Southeast AsiaÌýat an Australian research institution

The Sydney Southeast Asia Centre will be hosting an in-person ECR writing retreat from 4-5 June 2021. This is an opportunity for early career researchers to put dedicated writing time aside with structured guidance from facilitators. It is also an opportunity to meet fellow ECRs interested in the study of Southeast Asia from a range of Australian institutions.Ìý
Travel grants are available for participants travelling from outside Sydney, NSW. See details below.

This mini writing retreat is open to anyÌýearly careerÌýresearch scholarsÌýboth at the University of Sydney and other research institutions around Australia. To be eligible, applicants must:
University of Sydney academic staff have the option of attending one or both days of the writing retreat. Please indicate in your application if you only wish to attend one day.
As part of this event, SSEAC is offering up to 8 travel grants for participants travelling from outside Sydney, NSW.ÌýThese grants are subject to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Grant recipients must attend BOTH days of the retreat. Grants will only to be paid AFTER the retreat in case COVID-19 restrictions prevent interstate travel.
SSEAC is not liable for any costs incurred from the cancellation of travel due to changing COVID-19 travel restrictions.
UnfortunatelyÌýwe are not in a position to award grants toÌýresearchersÌýat non-Australian institutions orÌýECRsÌýwho are based outside of Australia. No grants will be provided to applicants based in Sydney.
