Eligibility and applying

Applications for Round 2, 2026 are now open.

Eligibility

To be eligible you’ll need to:

  • be a currently enrolled student at the University at the time of the project/event taking place
  • demonstrate how the project will build a sense of community, embed sustainable behaviours and meet Student Life Grants criteria
  • agree to the core commitments
  • declare any additional funding support or collaborations with other parties (e.g. external third parties, local councils, other universities or businesses).

How to apply

To apply, you will need to , including details of your project design such as budget, timeline, activities, and sustainability planning. Please ensure your application addresses the assessment criteria. Your application may include multiple events or activities, that must be held in person. You can apply as:

  • an individual
  • a group of students who are not in a registered society with USU or SUS
  • a group of students who are within a registered society with USU or SUS
  • individuals/groups in collaboration with a registered society with USU or SUS.

What happens next

Assessment of applications

Applications will be reviewed and assessed in accordance with the assessment criteria by a committee of representatives from Student Life. The committee will seek to ensure that proposed events and initiatives are diverse and do not duplicate existing University activities. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by email following the assessment process.

Ongoing support for successful applicants

Student Life will provide a training session for successful applicants, offering practical guidance on capturing the University experience, boosting registrations and engagement, inspiring your audience, and leading a team effectively. In addition, Student Life staff will schedule regular check-ins to help ensure your project stays on track for success.
