We have a range of options for postgraduate research students in the field of architecture, design and planning.ÌýThis page includes scholarships for both prospective and current domestic students.Ìý

  • Recipient of an RTP stipend scholarship or equivalent award
Garry and Susan Rothwell Research Scholarship $10,000 pa (up to 3 years)
  • PhD student
  • Research architectural design, urban design or urbanism
HJ Cowan Architectural Science Scholarship $2,500
  • Enrolled in a research degree
Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Collaborative AI for Science (Co-) Cre $38,500 p.a. (up to 3.5 years)
  • Commencing PhD at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning
  • Hold an Honours degree (first class or second upper) in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Willing to focus their PhD research on the problem of co-creative systems in the context of scientific research.
Postgraduate Research Scholarship in the Future of Design Education $35,000 p.a. (up to 3 years)
  • PhD student at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning
  • Hold an Honours degree (first class or second upper)
    Masters degree with a substantial research component.
  • Conduct research into mixed-methods research in design education.
  • 5 years of experience teaching design courses, preferably studios.
Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Transformation of Ageing Apartment Buildings $35,950 p.a. (up to 3.5 years)
  • Commencing PhD at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning
  • Willing to conduct research (on Camperdown campus) under the supervision of Associate Professor Sandra Loschke
Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Rental Vulnerability University of Sydney's RTP stiped rate p.a. (up to 3 years)
  • PhD student at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning
  • Hold an Honours degree (first class or second upper)
    Masters degree with a substantial research component.
  • Conduct research in examining Rental Vulnerability in Australia.
Postgraduate Research Scholarship in Regional Transitions University of Sydney’s RTP stipend rate (for up to 3.5 years)
  • PhD student at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning
  • Hold an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or equivalent, a master degree with a substantial research component
  • background in a relevant research field (eg. economic geography, planning, political economy)
  • design and carry out research in consultation with Prof. Chris Gibson as part of the Laureate project ‘regional decarbonisation transitions

  • Commit to enrolling/ registering in PhD programs (and spend time located at) each institution
  • Meet entry requirements of both institutions including:
    • First Class Honours degree, or Master's by Research with outstanding results (at least 80% or equivalent)
