NSW Ambulance and University of Sydney partner for future health workforce
NSW Ambulance and the University of Sydney have shown their commitment to the future of health service delivery by signing a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on research and education to upskill NSW Ambulance paramedics, nurses, doctors and corporate staff.
It is the first time NSW Ambulance has partnered with the University of Sydney, one of Australia鈥檚 leading research-intensive universities and part of the Group of Eight (Go8).
NSW Ambulance Acting Chief Executive David Dutton said this partnership will provide further education and research opportunities for NSW Ambulance and the wider health workforce of the future.
鈥淭he University of Sydney is a world-class university that has a history of working in partnership with health stakeholders.
鈥淭his collaboration with NSW Ambulance will open the door to a number of customised micro credentials and research partnerships that will ultimately enhance the mobile and emergency care provided to the people of NSW,鈥� Mr Dutton said.
The partnership will explore a number of opportunities, bringing together the individual expertise of NSW Ambulance and the University of Sydney, to create fit-for-purpose education programs and enhance specialist research that aligns with the Future Health Strategic Framework.
鈥淭his memorandum of understanding shows our commitment to empowering NSW Ambulance staff by equipping them with specialised professional development and advanced research platforms to inform our models of care, ultimately improving service delivery,鈥� Mr Dutton said.

Professor Robyn Ward, Executive Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney said the core strategy of the University is to promote excellence in education and research by engaging with key industry partners, to enable students to thrive and realise their full potential.

Tailor-made micro credentials, clinical and leadership courses, collaborative research and implementation science programs are some of the proposed benefits of this partnership.
