Brothers James Ferguson (Bachelor of Commerce '13/Bachelor of听Laws '16) and Robbie Ferguson (Bachelor of听Advanced Science (Computer Science)/Bachelor of听Laws) share far more than blood ties. As a result of co-founding their company, Fuel Games, in 2018, they have landed a spot on the 鈥楩orbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2019鈥.
They started Fuel Games after realising they could apply an emerging technology 鈥 blockchain 鈥 to gaming. The company produces sports games, known as eSports, that are unusual in that they allow players to own in-game assets.听
鈥淐urrently, most game publishers wield absolute authority over game economies, and act as central banks that inflate or manipulate the value of assets,鈥 Robbie Ferguson said.
Top players can become 鈥榮tar athletes鈥 and sell their own digital merchandise.听
Within one year of operating the business, the brothers report that they released their flagship game,听Gods Unchained; raised over $2 million from investors; and reaped $5 million in profits.听
