2018 SCA Undergraduate Degree Show
The Undergraduate Degree Show presents some of Sydney鈥檚 most talented emerging artists in a vibrant display of artistic experimentation.
The exhibition features work by students completing the and . Works by more than 50 third year students went on display across the campus in each of the studio areas: Jewellery and Object, Painting, Photomedia, Printmedia, Screen Arts, and Sculpture.聽In addition, hosts the work of 40 students who have completed their Honours degree.
This capstone experience prepares students for the commercial art sector and provides opportunities to have their work viewed by collectors, curators and gallery directors.聽
There are so many strong works that contribute to SCA鈥檚 sustained track record of producing contemporary artists, many of whom play on the world stage.
The Artereal Gallery Mentorship Award was awarded to聽Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours student, Patrizia Biondi for her collection of works, Use No Hooks, Fraught to the Bone and Joker Are Always Right but the Clowns Are All That鈥檚 Left.
The Artereal Gallery Mentorship Award will provide Patrizia with: 聽a one-year mentorship, culminating in her inclusion in a group exhibition at the gallery in 2019; and an invaluable mentorship with the gallery鈥檚 manager, Rhianna Walcott and the entire Artereal team.
This award allows the recipient opportunities to seek advice and guidance pertaining to and relating to her professional development, the development of artistic practice, exhibition opportunities, art prizes, residencies and artist profiling opportunities.
Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours student Paul Cooper was the recipient of Artscene, the SCA Directors Award for an outstanding Honours student.
Paul majored in sculpture and presented his winning collection of works, Actuality No. 2, File, Ready or Not, and Charta Sacculi saying, 鈥淚t鈥檚 an interactive contraption using live AV feeds, which produce drawings that document visitation to the space during the exhibition. These drawings highlight our willingness to provide personal information in the digital age.鈥�
鈥淭he students of the class of 2018 deserve to be very proud of this exhibition. There are so many strong works that contribute to SCA鈥檚 sustained track record of producing contemporary artists, many of whom play on the world stage,鈥� said Andrew Lavery, Director Sydney College of the Arts.
鈥淪CA鈥檚 vision is to further build its legacy to Australian contemporary art and culture as it relocates to its new home at The University of Sydney鈥檚 Camperdown campus, and these graduates will most certainly be part of celebrations to come.鈥�
