In the most public job application around, a voting system is open to the community to choose their favourite vet to host TV's Bondi Vet.
It's all up to the judges now. The final five vets have been announced in the search for the new Bondi Vet, with University of Sydney alumni, named as a contender for the top job. The race to become the next Bondi Vet is heating up as the top 50 entrants are announced. Included in the top 50 are 14 University of Sydney alumni:聽

This round of voting is set to determine the final five entrants to be announced at the end of the June.
There is a nationwide search to find a new host for the long-running and ever-popular television show, . Original host, Dr Chris Brown and current co-host, Lisa Chimes are both alumni from the University of Sydney. Chris is stepping down from his TV role, sparking the search for his replacement.
Public voting is open until 16 May and the winner will be announced in August.聽
Some vets have nominated themselves to take on the hosting gig, others have been nominated by the pet owners that are so incredibly grateful for the professional and personal veterinary services they receive for their furred, feathered, finned, shelled, scaled or skinned animal babies.

, Head of School and Dean of the said it came as no surprise that so many of the nominees had ties to the University.
鈥淰eterinarians in our hospitals, current students and Veterinary Science alumni are featured amongst the 222 nominees listed on the site. At last count, there were 66 alums including five veterinary staff members, and two students vying for this important, inspiring and valuable veterinary and communications role, and the nominations, and recommendations are still growing,鈥 said Professor Taylor.
鈥淲e are, of course, hoping for a win by one of our skilled alum. 聽Most of the country鈥檚 leading celebrity vets trained with us. The videos, practices and interests of the nominees showcase the diversity of the many highly professional and much loved vets who had their professional beginnings here at Sydney.
鈥淪ydney veterinary science has long been a leader for academic reputation and research impact. Our place us as number one in Australia for veterinary science. I encourage pet lovers to show their support, share their experiences and give a vote of confidence for your favourite Sydney Vet alum. Or if you would like to see what it takes to become a veterinarian, consider voting for one of our current students to be on the show,鈥 Rosanne said.
The public are being asked to share their experiences and commendations of the vets in the running. The top 50 vets will go through to the semi-finals through a combination of the producers鈥 choices and community responses to the nominees.
