Why study dentistry and oral health?

Our dentistry and oral health courses are taught by experienced clinicians and researchers and are patient-centred, evidence-based and responsive to community needs.

Our courses emphasise clinical experience, and we have connections with聽,听听补苍诲听, as well as local health district dental hospitals in remote, regional and rural NSW (including Ballina, Broken Hill, Dubbo, Orange and Armidale).聽聽

Careers in dentistry and oral health

Dentistry

Dentists be found in a broad range of roles and careers, including: private practice, public service, defence forces, academic, and oral health research.

Once you have completed at least two years of general practice, you can look at聽specialising in a range of areas including sedation and pain control, endodontics, dental public health, oral medicine, implants, surgery, orthodontics, paediatrics, periodontics, prosthodontics and special needs dentistry.

Oral Health

Oral health therapists are an integral part of the dental team, providing preventative services and management of oral conditions to patients of all ages, in both the public and private sector.

All of the lecturers are really supportive and help us learn effectively in creative ways. I was also surprised that we started to develop practical skills within the first weeks of the course, such as instrument handling and drilling into practice blocks.

The campus offered excellent facilities and the knowledge and skills she gained were useful for understanding how to manage medical emergencies as well as the different levels of sedation that can be utilised for dental treatments.
