A discussion to to explore the role of outrage in the current political climate.
Outrage. Is it an affect? An agency? A meme? This talk will attempt to decide whether outrage offers political instruction or if it's an instrument of democratic destruction.
This Sydney Ideas event is co-presented with Sydney Social Sciences and Humanities Advenced Research Centre (SSSHARC) and the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney.

Speakers
- 聽(Literature and Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies, Duke University) is a leading figure in feminist and queer theory. Her many publications include聽Object Lessons聽(2012) and聽American Anatomies: Theorizing Race and Gender聽(1995). She is currently finishing a book on affect and anti-racist aesthetics.
- 搁别蝉辫辞苍诲别苍迟:听聽(Lecturer in History and American Studies, United States Studies Centre) works on political economy, labour, social movements, urban history, and race and gender in American politics.
- Chair:聽(Gender and Cultural Studies) is completing a book on gay marriage as remarriage.
