The Travel Demand Management (TDM) short course provides insights into new trends affecting TDM implementation such as working and studying from home, Mobility as a Service (MaaS), greening of transport, and active travel.

This course looks to give participants an opportunity to develop an appreciation of the techniques available in the TDM toolkit and gain an integrated understanding of key concepts, techniques and trends in TDM.

The course will provide an opportunity to question, assess and respond independently and creatively to assumptions, propositions and debates around hot topics in TDM.

The TDM short course will be directed by Professor聽聽and ITLS will provide a suitably qualified team of lecturers drawing on expertise from across the University and industry.

Topics will include:

  • Key components of the TDM toolkit:
    • Intelligent active mobility聽
    • Parking management聽
    • Road pricing reform
  • New directions for TDM:
    • A TDM Agenda for Rural and Regional
    • Working from Home (WFH) as a TDM tool聽
    • Micro-freight and last mile deliveries
    • TDM in the context of Decarbonisation
  • TDM Case Studies:
    • The TfNSW Travel Choices Program聽
    • TDM in a university context (experience from USYD)
  • Innovative Futures for TDM

The two days of lectures are backed up by a local field trip to see TDM in action. Details will be confirmed to registered participants.
