This聽unit聽of聽study聽provides an introduction to programming and numerical methods. Topics covered include computer arithmetic and computational errors, solution聽of聽nonlinear equations, systems聽of聽linear equations, numerical integration and differentiation, interpolation and approximation,聽 initial value problems for ordinary differential equations. This course will cover basic concepts聽of numerical optimization聽and applications聽such as for instance numerical optimization in the rapidly evolving聽domain聽of聽machine learning.
