Staff and affiliates: to understand the standards of behaviour and ethical guidelines expected of them at work.

HR: to advise and support staff and affiliates in understanding and following the Code.

Staff and affiliates must:

  • maintain and develop their expertise
  • declare external interests and conflicts of interest
  • exercise professional and ethical judgment
  • carry out duties with integrity, diligently, and conscientiously
  • act fairly and reasonably, treating all individuals with respect, impartiality, courtesy, and sensitivity
  • report instances of wrongdoing
  • comply with all applicable legislation, industrial agreements, professional codes, and University rules, policies, and procedures

Staff and affiliates must not:

  • solicit or accept gifts that might compromise their University work
  • use University funds to support a political cause
  • misuse University resources or secure information
  • bully, harass, or discriminate against another person
  • engage in romantic relationships with a student where they have any influence over that student’s:
    • academic outcomes
    • financial security
    • visa status
    • safety and wellbeing.
