鈥淲e received more than 300 submissions to the David Harold Tribe Poetry Bequest Award, and from a strong and varied field we decided to pick two poems we loved,鈥 said the 2018 judges, eminent poets听听(Director of Creative Writing,听University of Sydney),听Pam Brown and Keri Glastonbury.听
Grace Heyer won the award for her poem 鈥楾he Other Kingdom is Like This鈥. She shares the award with Ella O鈥橩eefe, for 鈥榳arped up lamplight鈥.
Ella O鈥橩eefe said finding out she had won the award was 鈥渁 surprise of the best kind鈥, while Grace Heyer added that winning the award was 鈥減rofoundly encouraging鈥.

Ella O鈥橩eefe is a poet and researcher who lives in Melbourne. Her chapbook听Rhinestone听was published in 2015 SOd press. Her most recent publication is听It鈥檚 What We鈥檙e Already Doing听(Shower Books) a collaborative poem and book made with Elena Gomez, Leah Muddle, Melody Paloma, Emily Stewart and Sian Vate. Her poems have been published in听Overland Journal,听Cordite Poetry Review,听the听Hunter Contemporary Australian Feminist Poetry Anthology, the听Black Inc. Best Australian Poems听series,听Text Journal,听Yellow Field听and the听Active Aesthetics: Contemporary Australian Poetry Anthology.
Grace Heyer is an emerging writer and poet from rural New South Wales. Her work has appeared in several Australian journals.
